Nobody knows the origin of this unique dish, but most references are free to associate Gado Gado as an authentic dish of Jakarta land. The origin of the name also seems to be the same as its origin.

The origin of the word 'Gado Gado' is not in the Indonesian dictionary or Jakarta language vocabulary. Nevertheless, it seems that changing this food is contrary to the development of language, among others, by conversing the term 'gado-gado marriage' which means mixed marriage or 'gado gado' which means mixed language.

Recipe for Making Gado Gado


Ingredients:
  • 250 gr of fresh curly lettuce
  • 100 gr long beans
  • 100 gr bean sprouts
  • 500 gr potatoes
  • 2 cucumbers
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 5 chicken eggs
  • 1 tempe
  • 5 tofu
  • Cooking oil
  • Crackers

Seasoning for peanut sauce:
  • 3 fresh cayenne fruit
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 250 gr of peanuts
  • 3 tablespoons of tamarind juice
  • 3 leaves of kaffir lime
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 500 ml of coconut milk
  • 50 grams of brown sugar

How to make:
  • Prepare peanuts, wash thoroughly and roast and dispose of the skin.
  • Blend the cayenne pepper and garlic then spread the orange leaves and stir-fry until fragrant.
  • Add roasted peanuts, fine spices and coconut milk to a blender, then blend until smooth.
  • Remove the peanut sauce mixture and boil and add salt and brown sugar slices. the gado gado seasoning is ready.
  • Boil the chicken eggs and all the vegetables are cooked, then drain.
  • Fried tempeh and tofu until dry.
  • Add the boiled vegetables, cut the tofu eggs, tempeh tofu, then flush with peanut sauce and sprinkle the crackers on top.
